Yeasayer’s Oddblood is an album you’ll like more and more as you listen, finding nuances and revelations  along the way. Case in point: we never knew “O.N.E.” lent itself to a day-glo underground rave party/neon maj-jong session. This video is sick.

This video for Walter Schreifels‘ “Arthur Lee’s Lullaby” owns for several reasons. One, he comes close to flashing us in that bathrobe but thankfully does not. Two, we see him playing a real Wurlitzer. Three, there is confetti. Yeah! Confetti!! Taken from Schreifels’ forthcoming solo debut, An Open Letter To The Scene, the former hardcore dude is definitely more alty-folky here, but the sound still has a sort of punk tension about it. The album is said to contain a track called “The Ballad of Lil’ Kim.” We. Can’t. Wait.

We’re digging Seabear, the hypnotic pop outfit form Iceland. They tour the eastern US and Canada next month with Via Tania and hopefully will be back this summer. For now, they’ve made a little video for “I’ll Build You A Fire” that will help you have psychadellic dreams. If you need to catch up on your Seabear, grab their track “Lion Face Boy” here.

Fenech-SolerA synth-pop quartet from the London exurbs isn’t so unusual these days (presumably… we have not evidence of this), but Fenech-Soler have caught the ears of Alan Braxe and Annie Mac as well as Groove Armada. With GA back in the spot on the cusp of their new album’s release, they’re bringing their collaborators up with them. F-S feature on “Paper Romance,” by Groove Armada (premiered last week on BBC 1). Supposedly they’ll be touring North America this year. In the meantime, watch the video for “Lies” below and check their ish out on their ‘Space.

Infusion try it on with dolls

Infusion are like a best kept secret of Australian music. Their first album won a bunch of Arias and had them tour the world, largely as an “electronic” rock band. That they are, but they’re more than any one genre too. “Try It On” is the harbinger of their forthcoming sophomore album and this video is a technicolor dream.

While in New York working on her 11th studio album, Kylie Minogue has had some free time to do things frolic in leaves and cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot. These exploits have been documented with a still camera and strung together as a video, set to a few remixes, for the below, the Fischerspooner remix of “Come Into My World.” What a lovely Thanksgiving weekend gift!

Pilgrims were in fact players

November 25, 2009

Who knew Puritans got down? Ok, well they so didn’t. But that’s cool because among the many historical inaccuracies in this Thanksgiving-themed music video advert, the least offensive are the sexualized pilgrims. Best line: “how’d I get these abs? crunches. how do I solve crime? hunches.” Happy Thanksgiving (you’re welcome)!

Robbie Williams lives garden variety fantasies in new clip

November 6, 2009

Really? Robbie Williams is not just in a bunny hat but actually playing a rabbit in this acid trip of a promo for his new single, “You Know Me.” Yes, there are singing cabbage, and eventually some women riding and eroticizing carrots. Honestly, we didn’t anticipate the kind of comeback where the artist learns to [...]
