Radical Face is the alias of Jacksonville, Florida-based singer/songwriter Ben Cooper. And while it’s unlikely you’ve heard of him, if you live in western Europe and watch television, you’ve probably heard his song “Welcome Home.” The tune’s placement in a European Nikkon commercial has boosted its profile from unknown to fast-growing. The song’s video, directed by LA-filmmaker Justin Mitchell, was posted last summer to YouTube and within a few weeks has bumped its views up to the quarter-million mark. The video gives a sense of Cooper’s north Florida life and style, managing to be more mystical than gritty. The song is pretty great; it starts unassumingly, but then the chorus – ahhh, the chorus! You can get to know Cooper on his website where his musings on the recording process and his health feature prominently.
