After success at Ultra and before conquering Coachella and Movement, Pretty Lights is giving away a free EP, Making Up A Changing Mind. It’s a mix of classic hip-hop swagger, some choice samples and some French Touch punch. Pretty Lights is the moniker of Derek Vincent Smith, who has amassed a remarkably sturdy fanbase by playing some wicked live shows and cobbling together unusual sounds for recordings like this EP. The free giveaway is pretty savvy; even though he’s sold out some dates in the past, he’s still widely unknown and this gives a good opportunity for exposure. Oh, and he’s cute too.
