Morgan Page will release his second album, Believe, this winter through Nettwerk. As the follow-up to his breakthrough debut album, Elevate, which boasted the smash single “The Longest Road.” And while many contributing vocalists on the album ahve been named (Angela McCluskey, Jan Burton), the singer on Believe‘s lead single, “Fight For You,” has not. While it’s been inaccurately credited to McCluskey in some places, it’s obviously Lissie, the same singer from “The Longest Road.” Our understand is that Lissie had been stuck in a recording contract with Sony/BMG, which she got out of to sign with indie Fat Possum. Fat Possum, for some unknown reason, doesn’t want their new artist associated with dance music or the success she’s had with Page and has banned the label, Page, or any representatives from announcing her contribution to “Fight For You.” Sure, there are some major sonic differences from Lissie’s alt-country solo work and Page’s music, but it’s not like fans of Ray Lamontagne (who she’s opening for this month) are offended by Morgan Page, so this is pretty retarded. You can listen to Lissie’s solo work on her MySpace and listen to “Fight For You” below.
