Dada LifeDada Life is the Swedish duo of Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom who proport to incite all sorts of radical (perhaps violent) reactions to their music. This month they released their debut LP, Do The Dada, on The Hours, but with a slew of remixes under their belts, their sound is a somewhat familiar one. Dada Life is bassy, synth distorting, electro rejecting, Euro trashy, and melodic. Basically, they do as producers what many electro DJs try to do, but with more cohesion. We sent the boys a set of six questions to have their way with.

1. Dada was an art movement that included artists like Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, George Grosz… do you have a favorite Dadaist?
DL: We thought Grosz was a beer brand. Our favourite Dadaist must be the much underrated artist Dr Senut Gib. And Duchamp of course.”

2. That 20th Century Dada was about rebelling against middle class complacency. There’s a sort of rebellious sound in your music… is that intentional? What powers are you rebuking?
DL: We want people to lose themselves. Our music should feel like behing hit from behind. You get hit, turn around, and then it’s too late…bang again. And you enjoy it.

3. How does one live the Dada life?
DL: It’s up to each and everyone to ‘Do the Dada’ as they like. It can mean that you do bad things until early in the morning. Or just eat that big steak and enjoying it. Or…whatever. We don’t want to be a guide. People can do whatever they like. It’s also a reminder.

4. We’ve been told that Dada Life don’t “care about the things we care about.” What do you care about?
DL: Kickdrum-sounds. Bananas. World-peace. The future. The night. And a lot of other stuff.

5. Now that you have a full length out, how are things different when you’re at a gig from before when we just knew you from a few singles?
DL: Not really. I mean, it’s 2009. People don’t listen to album like before. We’re as known for our remixes and Guerilla Farts as our original tunes, for example.

6. Duchamp’s “Fountain” (the urinal) came to define what people knew of his career. If you could choose, what would you like to be the lasting impression people have of Dada Life?
DL: Hey, it’s not over yet! But up til now? It has to be our patented voom. A sound you don’t forget once experienced on a big sound system.

Their tour starts tonight in San Diego. If you want to hear that voom in LA on Friday night at Avalon, send us an email with an answer to the following question: Marcel Duchamp drew a mustache on the face of what famous woman in art?
