Willie Nelson is still cool, if we are to believe his MySpace

Yes, you should immediately become MySpace friends with Willie Nelson. Especially if you live in Hawaii, where he will be doing a MySpace Secret Show on Tuesday, August 25. Usually these aren’t announced in advance (hence the secret aspect) but perhaps because Willie’s fanbase is a tad, um, older than the typical MySpace user, it was considered best to give a proper heads up. Nelson will be promoting and performing songs from his newest collection, American Classic, a jazz album that features collabos with Norah Jones and Diana Krall. This isn’t the first time Nelson has done the featured artist thing. You’ll recall he has worked with everyone from Emmylou Harris to Snoop Dogg and even Jessica Simpson. In case Krall doesn’t equal fun in your mind, Band of Horses will join Nelson at the Secret Show, not just to connect a younger audience to the legend’s work, but to perform.  What makes Nelson cooler than some of his contemporaries is that all of his collaborations are based on a musical common ground (or an herbal one in Snoop’s case) and not some marketing ploy. So if you’re in Maui, light it up!
