We love Jill Sobule, and like other fans, have been waiting for this “kiss”-off of sorts with Katy Perry. In a recent interview with The Rumpus, Jill called Perry a “fucking little slut” for writing another song called “I Kissed A Girl.” Yes! At last! Sadly, we know Jill well enough to know she doesn’t mean it (not completely, at least) [DS].
In more beef news, that between Mariah Carey and Eminem is giving morning radio shows such much-needed non-Michael Jackson news. It has also been given a much-needed lyric to lyric breakdown on Blackbook. They hail Em as the winner but we’re picking Mimi because her song is funnier [Bbk].
Los Angeles hasn’t been known for it’s francophilia exactly, but still a world class city draws classy acts, thus the OohlaL.A. Festival comes to the west coast on September 23rd and will feature Sébastien Tellier and Emilie Simon. Quel génial! [MW]
Speaking of the French, a UK R&B singer named Nathan has recorded a track that goes beyond sampling, and basically just adds a vocal to Justice’s “Genesis.” It’s so totally pointless and weird you should listen [ITM].
