Chromeo gets their DJ Kicks on

ChromeoWe heart the DJ Kicks comp series because a) it’s good and b) it’s made by good people. With selectors like Tiga, Annie, Carl Craig, and Hot Chip in the catalog, it’s eclectic as the artists’ tastes are electric. That said, with the Kicks’ home, K7 having reduced their output in the last year or so, the series’ future looked dim. Not so today, with the announcement that Chromeo will be dropping the next comp for the Kicks. That’s the good news. Here’s the ehhhh news. All DJ Kicks comps feature those “surprise” or “unlikely” tracks. Annie had her Bow Wow Wow, Erlend Oye had his Avenue D (that’s right kids, Erlend likes the F word!). Given that Chromeo are cheeky bastards to begin with, we can expect a bevy of “dude! no way!” kind of tracks. Case in point: tracks include The Alan Parsons Project and a Chromeo cover of The Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why” (should Canadians be allowed to do that?). No, it’s cool.

Apparently there’s no imminent release for this comp, but you can see Chromeo at the below dates.

Aug 28 2009 SAN DIEGO STREET SCENE Festival San Diego

Sep 13 2009 MONOLITH Festival Morrison, Colorado

Oct 16 2009 Irving Plaza, New York
