Weekend Anthem: Love by Memory vs Love by Force

in tune transfusion

ShapiroBlankFor a midsummer weekend anthem, we think there are two choices. First is Sally Shapiro‘s wistful disco “Love in July,” in which the singer pines for a begone romance from last July, but you could say it was last weekend (or last night). The key change in the chorus, the synth piano, the spoken word sweetnothings – it would make you cry were it not for the disco pulse. You can get the track here for now.

Your second choice is Amanda Blank‘s “Make It Take It,” the less-bawdy second single from her still-not-released debut album. Sounding more like The Donnas or Le Tigre than Kid Sister or Santigold, Blank fast talks a guy (or series of) into “taking it like a man.” “You know you want it,” she sing-talks to her target. Sure. We’ll take it. You can get yours on RCRDLBL here.
