Mew are the band that Trent Reznor said he liked so much it “pisses me off.” The Rez tapped the Danish trio (they used to be a quartet – the bassist is out) to open for him a handful of North American dates and lucky for you who didn’t want to pony up for a Nine Inch Nails gig, you can see them on their own terms in a few cities as well. Their forthcoming album, No More Stories (the full title is actually No more stories, are told today, I’m sorry, they washed away, No more stories, the world is grey, I’m tired, Let’s wash away) includes “Repeaterbeater,” (get it free on rcrdlbl or stream on their ‘Space). The song has a rhythmic melody which finds the band’s singer, Jonas Bjerre, layering his vocals in a thin tenor harmony while while guitarist Bo Madsen and drummer Silas Graae keep the pulse driving forward. This is a band you’ll want to see in a small venue for sure.
