Kid Sister’s Ultraviolet and Kid Sister’s Dream Date

in sick music no boundaries, tune transfusion

Everyone has been drooling all over themselves to break the news that Kid Sister‘s debut album, Ultraviolet, will finally be coming out. But until we see that baby on the shelves, we won’t get hung up on any “release dates.” Instead, we’d like to compare the to-be-released album with the was-going-to-be-released version from last year.  The album originally titled Dream Date was so good, we couldn’t imagine how Kid Sis wanted to improve it. But by shelving some of the midtempo tracks and matching her previously successful singles with more dance-friendly tracks, we get it now. Ultraviolet’s lead single, “Right Hand Hi” is produced by half of the Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. It’s not only an unexpected pairing – they don’t really do tracks for other people, let alone hip hop artists – but it’s fucking awesome and you can download it below. After the jump is a side by side comparison of the album that will be and the album that never was.

Dream Date Ultraviolet

1. Fashion Friction (intro)
this was cute but a little cheese; totally unnecessary, so it’s omission is ok.

2. Life On TV
this is the best track Yuksek has produced to-date…

3. Let Me Bang
must be a personal fave of Kid Sis…

4. Family Reunion (feat. David Banner)
great midtempo track on a very R&B tip – but it’s gone

5. Don’t Stop Movin’
one of the slower tempo tunes is great for a grind, which we gather is why it got shelved

6. Beeper
this track is a year and a half old, and not even really a Kid Sis track; its omission is ok.

7. Get Fresh
this was released as a single earlier this year

8. Pro Nails (feat. Kanye West)
toes done up with her finger nails matchin

9. Down Ass Jawn
kind of an anthem and a decent track too! but it’s been chucked

10. Dream Date Skit
well, there are no Ultraviolet skits

11. Ladies First (feat. Estelle)
this Queen Latifah cover is a fan fave; and it’s off the new version

12. Control
ladies in the front row touchin toes

13. Switch Board (feat. DJ Gant-Man)
totally frenetic and fun, but the weakest on Dream Date

14. You Ain’t Really Down
kind of an odd closer, which is why it’s been moved

1. Right Hand Hi
new track and “first” single; produced by Angello and Ingrosso; dwnld it above

2. Life On TV
…this will have Yuksek in demand for all of 2010

3. Daydreaming
new track!

4. Let Me Bang 2009
…because it got re-recorded for this version

5. Big n Bad
new track!

6. Pro Nails (feat. Kanye West)
Kanye is such a get that even though this song and its video have been out for over a year now, it had to be here

7. Step (feat. Estelle)
this is the new track with Estelle; much more dance-friendly than “Ladies First”

8. Switch Board (feat. DJ Gant-Man)
um, not sure why this one got spared? maybe Gant-Man insisted.

9. Get Fresh
the chorus and breakdown
bring in some French disco synth production that is pretty sick; you can download this still on rcrdlbl

10. 54321
new track!

11. You Ain’t Really Down
a capella jam, and seemingly the only somewhat slow joint left on the disc

12. Control
first released in ’07; such an ace track it can be on every future Kid Sis album if she wants it to be
