Kaskade’s plane detours to Iceland; Beastie Boys cancel tour, offer new track; Kazaa returns; Pink Floyd goes to the moon

Kaskade lands in IcelandKaskade posted this picture on Twitter this morning of his plane in an emergency landing, but it never caught the attention of the international newsmedia. A United flight from London’s Heathrow to Chicago’s O’Hare had to touch down in Iceland this afternoon after it caught on fire. It’s unknown (but doubtful) if there are any other musicians on this flight, but as Kaskade himself said “I just aged 10 years but happy to be ALIVE.” [more]

The Beastie Boys announced the cancellation of their tour because Adam Yauch has cancer. But they also released a new track today. So it’s not all bad news…but yes, ok, mostly not good news [SG].

Australia is very happy that its Parklife festival got listed on CNN’s ranking of the world’s best summer music festivals. But this list includes neither Coachella nor All Points West. Not to be shills for Goldenvoice, but um, really? [ITM] [CNN]

We echo the confusion as to why Kazaa has bothered to return to the downloading market. Here are its features: $20 a month, incompatibility with portable players, only on PC. Maybe it will appeal to those who bought a Zune? [DS]

If you’re caught up in moon-landing fervor, you can enjoy this Pink Floyd jam session set to the Apollo 11 footage. Light it up! [NYT]
