Bolthouse and Leto are friends

KCRW DJ and boyfriend of Rosario Dawson Mathieu Schreyer is nothing if not a man on the scene. So it was only a matter of time before his bro Brent Bolthouse was tapped to fill in for Schreyer on his weekly radio show. Now, anyone who has seen Bolthouse “DJ” a party (usually one of his own) knows that he’s a terrible mixer and has questionalbe taste at best. We’ll see if tonight he pulls it together with the unparalleled KCRW music library at his fingertips and (perhaps) a little bit of pressure filling in for his talented friend. We wonder if he’ll play anything from his pal Jared Leto’s band? You can check the show live tonight at midnight, PST on 89.9 FM in LA and KCRW.com.

UK band Editors are talking about their forthcoming album, In This Light and On This Evening. Supposedly influenced by Blade Runner and other Sci-Fi sources, the album is rife with synth and probably some melodrama. Due out in September. [NME]

Everyone is talking about Jay Reatard‘s twitter explosion against Brooklyn bands and specifically The Pains of Being Boring at Heart. Oh, pots and kettles. [BV] [PF]

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington has a side project, Dead by Sunrise. They release their album, Out of Ashes this summer. No word on if Bennington’s larynx will survive. [RS]
