In a short time, Passion Pit has amassed a serious amount of excitement largely based on the radiant single “The Reeling.” We’ve talked about them a few times too, and on Manners, their full-length debut out today, they flesh out the ideas of that single and last fall’s Chunk of Change EP. “The Reeling” is by far the best track on the disc, but that’s ok. From opener “Make Light” to the previously released “Sleepyhead,” the band asserts its commitment to upbeat, jangly electropop that is as much Hot Chip as it is Scritti Politti. Singer Michael Angelakos’s falsetto is an instrument in and of itself, and that kids chorus on “Little Secrets” is just fun.
Also out today is Amatoria from Argentine crooner Federico Aubele, an album that includes collabos from Sabina Sciubba of Brazillian Girls and Miho Hatori of Cibo Matto. Nino Moschella‘s concept album of sorts, Boom Shadow, is out today as is the you-probably-already-have-it EP from LaRoux (who Pop Justice has been trying to goad into Tweeting more).
If you wanna play the chartopping game Eminem and Green Day have expected blockbusters out today. As does Tori Amos, who can always be counted on for a strong first week’s sales. Rave.
