When it comes to confessional songwriting (and social networking) few people are as candid as Jay Brannan. And while he’s regaled audiences with covers of everything from “Umbrella” to “Straigh Outta Compton” this summer he’ll release for the first time proper recordings of other people’s musical candor, In Living Cover. The song choices range from the pretty obvious (Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco) and pretty random (The Verve Pipe, the cranberreis); all lacking the cheeky irony of his in-concert covers. Bookended by two original Brannan songs, the disc is his first for Nettwerk and likely a holdover album until the proper follow up to 2008′s Goddamned.
