apeApe School, the new project from form Old Lilys member Michael Johnson, drops its eponymous debut today on Revolver Records. The disc is a collection of experimental but never alienating programmed alternative. Johnson’s voice is the surprise here, at times sounding like Keane’s Tim Oxley-Rice, and at others more like James Murphy.

Equally exciting is the release of A Camp‘s second album, Colonia. A Camp is the “solo” project of Cardigans frontwoman Nina Persson, but it’s absolutely a group effort. This disc is a little brighter than the last, but nowhere near the buoyant pop of Persson’s other band.

Great Northern, the duo of former 30 Seconds to Mars guitarist Solon Bixler and Rachel Stolte, drop their second album Remind Me Where the Light Is, featuring the fantastic single, “Houses.”  They start touring May 1 in Brooklyn. Also today, Young Love, the “dance” rock project of Dan Keyes, returns today with his second album, One of Us. While his first album had a great deal of buzz and attention drummed up by his label (Island) and tours with Erasure and Lady Sov, this effort has had none of that. We haven’t even heard it. Ouch.
