Little Boots on a little blitz

Little Boots is in LA this week. And when she’s not busy twittering Perez Hilton, she’s making a big fancy video (replete with dancers) for “New in Town,” the track that was widely distributed illicitly a month ago.

Coincidentally, Last Call with Carson Daly devoted its entire half hour to Boots on Monday night, playing clips from her show at Cinespace last month. If you can tune out the idiocy of Daly trying to be cool, reaffirming his enthusiasm for Boots’ “story,” and erroneously defining American pop music, you get to enjoy a solid performance and the US network television debut of Little Boots! She performs “Meddle” and “Stuck on Repeat,” and in what is possibly the best testament to her skills, her voice sounds amazing despite the intentionally-lo-fi-cuz-it’s-cool tv taping. This isn’t a shocker if you’ve seen her live or listened carefully to the singles, but even if Carson can only compare and contrast her to Britney (it’s all he knows!), there’s no mystery as to why he – and we – are transfixed.
